In Effective Communication this year I have learned a lot. We did many essays and prokects throughout the year. Many of those projects had to be presented to my fellow peers.
This an essay i had written for my English 10 Class. I feel it gives effective communication and enough facts about the topic.

Life in Prison Costs Less Than the Death Penalty
The discussion of the death penalty has emerged as a topic of interest to multiple debates. In the process of the death penalty, the criminal goes through multiple judicial cases. The cases may last a year or even longer. Life in prison without parole is when a jury decides whether or not the criminal receives the death penalty, or a sentence life in prison. In most states that do not allow the death penalty, life in prison is most common. Life in prison could save us money; help with community services and save time.
The death penalty costs millions more than life in prison without parole. If people protected them from the risk of execution or of any mistakes, it would be a lot better and morally right. The money we spend on the death penalty would be used for greater things like education or community services. Death Penalty Focus did a study In California, over 6000 people are on life in prison and they have saved 2 billion dollars which they use to help the community Not only is the death penalty expensive but it will only increase in cost.
Life in prison can help the community in various ways. The prisoners are paying for their own supplies and food by doing services. In the course of six months the inmates are able to create a community service plan with their councilors. Inmates preform multiple tasks such as gardening, attending community campaigns and doing prison work. Multiple community groups and companies such as Prison Fellowship help inmates cope with life in prison. The groups offer volunteer opportunities, bible studies and life skills. The community helps inmates stay in a situation where they have the basic needs, while the inmates contribute time and effort back to sociality.
The length of time spent on multiple trials for one individual is vast. Death Penalty Information Center states that the United States has the highest population of the death penalty. In the United States an inmate may have to wait a decade for execution, if not longer. Death row can extend up to 20 years of waiting. Although the death penalty is a serious matter and should not be taken lightly, the judicial court keeps pushing the problem away. This then creates never coming to a decision of life or death. Which raises the question if the prisoners are being punished twice other than once for their crimes? The judicial court should just conflict the prisoner to life in prison and deal with bigger situations. This decision also avoids unwanted mistakes.
The death penalty is a serious matter that comes down to whether the person gets to live or die. So what if we lose a couple people here and there? So what they deserved it? Well it does matter, it matters a lot actually. People do not deserve to die no matter how extreme the circumstances are, no one has the right to take someone else’s life. The inmates can serve the community, while life in prison saves money. The expensive of execution will only continue to increase in cost over the years. We could use that money for educational purposes or the public. So why not put inmates on life in prison? It’s a win-win situation for everyone!
