my top classes for my senior year would have to be my university of Utah classes. I have grown so much this year in just two classes. I have come a long way in these classes and they both have taught me things i could apply to real world situations.
Scholarship ApplicationThank you for applying for the Richie's Spirit Foundation's Significant Challenge Scholarship.
Finalists will be contacted in spring 2015. Due to the high volume of applications, the foundation cannot answer phone calls or e-mails about the review process. Thanks for applying and good luck! Richie's Spirit Foundation . Essay Part A: Briefly describe a significant challenge you have faced in your life. *Like many other teens I have been through a lot in my life. Transitioning from elementary to middle school than to high school was very difficult for me. entering middle school I was always excluded by the color of my skin. Being a darker woman in a predominantly white school was rare. I always felt like I didn't fit in which lead to me having anxiety when forced into school projects or any communication with my fellow peers. That all changed, going into my senior year I had found my very first best friend. She was also dark and was a different culture as most of my middle school and high school. I found later on throughout my high school years that no one should feel left out. It's the worst feeling. I wish I had a support group as student government at the time. I went through my 7th and 8th grade years only talking to Sabrina and not regarding my peers teasing us. Essay Part B: Describe how you overcame this challenge. Tell us how it has shaped you as an individual. I decided to run for student government 3/4 years of high school and have lead freshman orientation every year. I want students to feel welcomed here at Ames, that the student government are friends when things seem to be going wrong. Student council members are now held at a high standard and are known to be the speakers to the administration and I am more than grateful to be a transitioning part in that.
